The "selfie" – probably the most obnoxious product of our generation, right ? And, yet, I partake in this indulgence all the time. I take (truly) heinous selfies probably ten (...fifty) times a day, usually through Snapchat, and send them to my friends who I can always count on to reciprocate something equally unsightly.
Something that interests me, though, is the act of a self-photographed image that isn't a "selfie"; allow me to explain. When you take a selfie, you're entirely aware of exactly what you look like, and the image of yourself you want to capture. A self-photograph is a similar concept, but you don't have the level of control over how your image turns out that you do when you just press a button on your iPhone and watch the image freeze. And that excites me. So, inspired by this idea, and because of the fact that I was wearing my favorite sweater, I decided to begin a sort of photo diary of self-taken self-images (that's a mouthful) the other day. The images captured thus far are messy, somewhat candid, and definitely imperfect, but possess a vulnerability that I like. I love the idea of a camera acting as a fly on the wall, and I think I'm getting there... I will certainly be adding to this over time, and hopefully a sense of progress and development will emerge.
Happy November

Night

| i left my camera on continuous self timer and went through a bit of my routine before bed, resetting it about three times. left me with tons of bad/awkward/weird images, including this |

| finally, i wanted to capture an image that was a little less candid, but demonstrated my connection to the night, which is probably due to my insomnia |
